Thanks to Bullman for the following info from his source. The message drop refers to the messages in the tubes that were found in a large pile at the end on Season 2.
Apparently, the message drop will be explained in a Ben flashback, amongst other things. We’ll see who are sending the messages and we’ll see who are receiving them. We’ll also learn a bit about the food parcel drops in the same episode. The Ben flashback will explain many of the mysteries that have bothered us since Season 2. More questions will be opened up, however, particularly relating to a certain rumoured “Other”.

ill bet the rumored other is rousseau, they keep saying how well find out more about her in another characters flashback etc. but they said the same thing about libby too so she would also be a good guess. anyway, sounds like some great stuff!
I think that it will be Annie. But Annie may turn out to be Rousseau, Libby, or some other charcter we already know. (I hope that it is Libby).
BTW--which epsiode is this spoiler refferring to? Do we know yet which episode will be Ben centric?

I hope they answer why he travelled the island to find Locke and how he met Henry Gale. That would be an awsesome episode
If Annie did turn out to be Libby - then it'd be interesting to have seen Ben's reaction when he was freed from his impsisonment it the hatch during the end of season 2...

I think it's either Jacob or Danielle. Ben's Centric episode is gonna be awesome!! Plus were gonna see Annie again in his episode. I am really glad Michael Emerson is still around. Does anyone know if we will find out what Ben did on his journey to the real Henry Gale & if HG is related to Rose?

Ben has so much backstory to tell, that I'm sure he'll be around for at least 2 more centric episodes.

I think that Ben headed to the Losties' camp in search of Jack, the surgion. He knew he had a tumor and I am sure that he had a plan to help him coerce Jack to help him out. I think that once crazy Danielle caught him in her net, that plan went out the window. He had to lie about being one of "the Others" to prevent Danielle, and later Sayid, from killing him. I believe that he initially felt like he could have been (some what at least) straight with Jack, but once he started lying, there was no turning back.
BTW: I also believe that it will be revealed that Danielle was brain washed and that her version of her island history really only exsists in her mind.
Danielle is the most likely canidate to turn out to be Annie, but I still think that Libby would be a more interesting alternative.

Remember, she wasn't quite dead yet at the time of his escape. Even though he probably couldn't do a lot to help her, it would certainly speak volumes about his character if he left her there to die alone.

The question is, is she still alive? If yes, where is she then? If not (which I think is more probable), then how did she die?
I assumed the food drop was sent by Mihkail so that Ben & crew could continue their rule as the new Dharma Initiative. In episode "Enter 77", Locke wins chess against the 'puter which allowed him access to Dharma's essestials like the food drop, communications and information about any insurgents (the Hostiles).
As far as Ben being captured by Danielle, perhaps that was a mistake on his part, he did plan to go to the Others camp to get Jack for his surgery but didn't plan for the barrage of fear and tortue of the Losties and becoming a hostage. Overhead by Paulo (in Expose), Ben & Juliet was already in the planning stages looking for signs of weakness to get Jack (his need to fix everything). I believe that Mikhail was the one typing to Michael, eventually luring him to the Others "fake" camp.
I too wonder what happened to Annie. Perhaps she's at the Temple.

Hi Chris, it's from a source who obtained it from a third party. My source themselves is reliable but they also have not been able to confirm the 3rd party yet although they believe them to be reliable.
But from what we know so far Ben episode can not be in the initial 8 so that means they wiull not be filming the Ben episode until after the writers strike. Correct?

Southernbeauty- At Comic-con I believe that they said that Ben was going across the island for some other reason and was caught on accident. I believe it has nothing to do with the Losties. Can't wait for his flashback.

chris- He said that he would use Michael to manipulate the rest, he didn't specifically say he was going to go and get him himself. By the time Ben got caught the Others had Michael already anyway.

I thought it was really obvious that the giant message drop pile in season 2 was supposed to be the tubes full of notebooks from the team observing the "psychological experiment" in the hatch. Remember Locke puts his "map" of all the stations in the tube and it is found in the message drop pile later on, right?

Don't we know these are the notebooks we saw in the Pearl and not "messages" (unless this is a bad translation to English). I doubt if they were ever meant to be read since the point of the study just was to see if they would write them or not. Therefore, it would not matter who would be "receiving" them. Probably a work man was scheduled to retrieve the tubes every few weeks. Are we to find out this was one of Ben's and/or Roger's responsibilities?
What surprised me was that pile's size. It meant that someone had stopped retrieving the tubes long before the two in the Pearl had stopped "sending" them. Being underground and secluded did they escape the Purge (because Ben would know the location of the Pearl tube drop but not the location of the Pearl station entrance?) After their shift ended did they continue writing while waiting for replacements that never came. Since the guys they were observing in the Swan had no idea the Purge had happened either and therefore were acting normally, nothing else would seem amiss to the couple in the Pearl. That is, until they started to run out of food. So Ben and Roger were "receiving" the "messages". My guess on who was "sending" them: the unfortunate guy in the polar bear den and the owner of glass eye.
I have all sorts of problems with the message drop. I don't believe the pile would've gotten that big (seemingly taller than the tube itself.

I'm assuming what this is referring to is that we'll see who was writing in the notebooks and maybe what happened to them. I really, really, really hope they get to the cigarette that was on the table in the Pearl station when Locke and Eko first went down, since we saw that it wasn't Paulo's (which would've been a total cop-out.)
I thought it was Patchy's cigarette. ? Great read on some of the last theories. Sounds like some of you have it all figured out. :)
I don't remember seeing Patchy smoke, and I don't think he ever left the Flame. But since the underground passageways seemingly led all the way from Otherville to The Pearl, it might has well have belonged to any of the others.
Patchy could have been a smoker, a big percantage of Russians smoke.
Paulo was a smoker.. Didnt he find a pack? Would make sense that he was hiding out stashing the diamonds and sneaking a smoke? I dont remember seeing that part however.
What about Roger?
What about Tom? Didn't Juliet say Tom had been there and had probably left the top off. Then Ben told her to have them put the plane over the entrance. I don't remember seeing any of the Others smoke but I can see Tom sitting back and smoking while watching what was going on at the Swan. Waiting for the chance to see Michael alone to pretend to be Walt.
yea i was operating under the assumption that it was tom's (smoke) and tom was down there communicating with michael via the computer. no?
