I've just been sent the following info from someone who appears to have some verified credentials, however as I've not confirmed this yet with my other regular sources, I'm going to place this in the rumours section.

I'm about 90% sure that wouldn't happen as part of a story line. The other 10% thinks that Ben would definately do it to stop her from giving information and ultimately protecting the island while sacrificing a loved one.
The other motivation is that Michael kills as revenge for taking Walt. Even though he gave him back, Michael currently has no contact with him, and feels that Walt wants nothing to do with him, and may feel it's a permanent loss. Eye for an eye and all that....

I don't see Michael killing Alex on purpose. But I can imagine a scene in which Michael tries to shoot Ben and Alex throws herself in front of Ben and takes the bullet and then Michael kills himself... This time the Island let him die.

My guess is Michael is ordered to kill the guilty parties on the freighter (Keamy, Omar, Gault etc)...
However, as Alex is being held prisoner there, she gets shot too by accident.
Michael is distraught as fate has led him to murder another innocent woman again!
Hoax. The last thing the story needs right now is for Michael to shoot another unarmed women. I mean he's supposed to be trying to redeem himself.

Where are you getting that she would be unarmed? The rumor doesn't say that (doesn't say much of anything really), and it's not like we haven't seen Alex armed before. I can't imagine how the situation would get to that, but I could have said the same thing about all the situations we've seen.

This is one of those rumours that sounds too ridiculous to be true so that if it actually ends up happening I'll be surprised anyway, even though I've already been spoiled...

Gotta be false and here's the odd reason why. No one on this show is ever shot in the head! If you've ever noticed, whenever anyone is shot its usually in the chest or other body part. Please name names if I'm wrong here!!

Michael's new story is of redemption. Why else would Darlton bring him back- to kill a teenage girl?

Also, JeGuerin is right, they could NEVER show a person getting shot "in the head" on ABC, especially a 16-year-old girl.

Uhhhh no Michael will not kill Alex....I mean seriously......plus the brutality of a head shot on someone a tad bit young is a little harsh (SHE"S ONLY 16!)
No one mentioned execution style, there is no indication that ABC would film and show the head shot in close-up slo-mo. There are a million ways it could be done.
OTOH, it does seem very unlikely given the popularity of her character, the death of her boyfriend, recent reunion with her (living?) mother, and her dislike and mistrust of her adoptive father - No matter how karma-poor Michael might be.
Then again, we are talking about Lost here.
The only way I'd attache any credence whatsoever to this is if I considered that the source witnessed a scene and misread what was occuring.
For example, if Michael was to shoot someone who was restraining Alex. The ol' 'bullet in the victim's direction to actually take out the offender' trick.
To rehash Michael's past and once again return him to the realm of the cold-blooded lady-killer would just be madness at this stage.

Remember that interview where Harold P mentioned that Michael was NOT working for Ben in his mind - he merely used Ben's opportunity to get back to the island to die.
Well, surely if he's still angry at Ben, shooting Alex would be a logical step - not a redemptive one, but if Ben pushed it like he always does, it's a logical one.
An accident? No - don´t believe that at all!
I hope and think this is a hoax. With Karl dead and Danielle POSSIBLY dead, it makes little sense to kill off Alex now after having her survive all that.
It also makes little sense to have Michael kill ANOTHER innocent person when he's trying to be redeemed.
Now, with Lost, anything is possible, but I really hope and think that this is just a big hoax.
The only way this could possibly go down credibly is if it is done in a Bea Klugh situation where Alex ASKS Michael to shoot her in the head.
And here comes bongzilla coughing up his ancient True-West Theory (in the Theories section way, way, way back) that there's some sort of machine that captures the brain's bio-electricity so that only the body dies, not the mind. no way. the most credence I could give it would be some sort of vision or nightmare, at the most. It would be a terrible waste and hard to believe as well.
plus I heard there's gonna be a "SPECTACULAR DEATH" in episode 9 (reminds me of Season 3's Pickett death)
Michael couldn't get on the island in time to do that. I think this information is false but if this happens it's because Walt's father was forced by Keamy or somebody of the freighter.
I don't believe this at all. I know things are getting darker but I just don't think Lost is going to turn that corner. I mean what is this? I think there will always be hope of redemption not just this, I mean it would be a moral killer...I don't think they'd do it.
