Here are some rumours from Docarzt.
Because You Left" deals with several of the Oceanic Six coming to grips with their need to return to the island... on their own terms. If true, this means season five will get right down to it and do away with the issues of Jack 'convincing' Kate to return right off the bat.
In this sense the statement "Because You Left" deals with not a specific set of circumstances, but multiple character's circumstances.

Makes sense regarding the episode title. Although suddenly finding Kate coming to terms with going back without explaining her turnaround would be a no-no in my opinion. I thought she was going to be the ultimate stick in the mud.
I like this idea. Having a whole season (or majority) where Kate insists she won't go back to the island doesn't sound too fun. There must have been something to change her mind though...
So hopefully this really is a Locke-centric in which he visits each one of O6 telling them what happened Because You Left. Then we get to see what really persuades everyone to go back.
Cant wait to see this episode!
Good news! I was not looking forward to the inevitable Jack/Kate crying and fighting scenes.
Yes - let's get right to it. What happened after they left and why? And why they need to go back to fix it?
I think this will be multi-centric, just like the finale. And I am sure their will be flashbacks showing the circumstances that helped change their minds.
Lost works with the cast together - not with them off doing their own thing and spread out all over the world.
Yep, I like that thought. It's an elipsis statement, then. "Because You Left ..."
"Because you left, Sawyer is heartbroken and lonely and mean."
"Because you left, there isn't a doctor to help those that are injured or sick."
"Because you left, morale is low because no one is there to be funny."
"Because you left, Jin is lost in time."
"Because you left ..."

Uh, Juliet is a doctor and still on island.
Makes sense since the groundwork for Kate's change was put in place with the finale and her telling Aaron she was sorry. She was obviously already having a change of heart.
I still think the "you" refers pretty specifically to Jack though since that was the verbage used by Bentham - that bad things happened because Jack left not because they all left. I am glad that there won't have to be any manipulation on Jack's part to get Kate to go back...that she will do it on her own terms. So much better that way.
I'm sure we will still have plenty of Jack/Kate fighting and crying scenes though.
Kate's one motivation will be to return Aaron to Claire. What other real motivation is there? But I still don't believe it'll happen right off the bat; I think some coercion on Ben's part sounds more likely instead of Jack doing the convincing here.
ITA on the Jack/Kate angst. There will be plenty of that to go around.

...there's no one to make a radio out of a coconut.
there's sayids.
It could have to do with Faraday and the fact that he left the island right before it shifted so he was sort of in between...my guess, the episode will show the effects on and off island of the Oceanic 6 + Ben departing from it. I dont think their return will be addressed quite so early in the season.

Yeah. That's what I'm hoping. I think Locke will already BE off the island and possibly we'll see how he got off the island later on.
He'll do his spiel. And we may even see him die.
Which gets the ball rolling for the rest of the season.
'This bad crap happened because you left, idiots!'
Because you left...
...there is no one to make stinky poos all over our best blankets.
Forgive me if I'm saying something that already exists above but I believe that it is referring to events that happened on the island because the O6 left.

Oh I hope you're wrong! I'm hoping for a Judgement of Solomon type scenario. It'd be great in itself and an opportunity to explore what 'parent' means and what their rights are.
We may get that of course if the much spoken of Danielle back story ever airs.
Well, duh.

I really hope this is not Locke going around telling the O6 what happened because they left. Listening to a bunch of exposition from Locke rather than seeing what actually happened would be such a letdown. So show me what happened please, don't tell me.
Return Aaron to Claire??? Dude, Claire's dead. So much for parental rights LOL. Still, there might be something to that thought... but didn't ghost Claire tell Kate NOT to take Aaron back to the island?
A good theory though, but I don't think the first episode will be dealing with convincing the O-6. I really do want -or let's say "expect"- something mind-blowing in the first episode, but not Locke visiting each 6 and trying to convince them, because that would be a mass of time besides we would only learn what happened on the island generally.
Once it was realized that Locke was in the coffin I thought that Kate's vision of Claire saying "Do not bring him back" referred to bringing back the dead body of Locke instead of Aaron.
Hope this is true. I really started to worry when Cuse and Lindelof went around saying 'Season 5 is about the O6 going back to the Island'. All 17 episodes of it??
I don't mind if the decision to go back seems a bit rushed. The Island is where the magic happens. The sooner they get back, the better!
There better be an ass-ton of stuff going on on the Island or this season is going to blow. I don't know how much flash forwards dealing with getting back to the island I can handle. We already know they all need to go back, they really shouldn't waste a lot of time going about that, it would just be too boring. They had better not draw that out so the finale is just them getting back to the island. We already have to wait nine months, I don't think I can handle a shitty season after that long of a wait.
I believe there will be only one motive for Kate to go back to the island with 'her son'. That's if Aaron is deathly ill, and either Jack or Ben convince her that the island can heal him.
Nearly everyone of the six have suffered loss and grief, except for Kate. I think the possibility of loosing Aaron or Jack - will be hers.
